Chairman NAB Lieutenant General Munir Hafiez has said that NAB had recommended automation of land revenue collection procedures and framing of clear cut rules and regulations so as to reduce interaction between the public and public officials thereby removing avenues of corruption.
He was delivering his closing address to the participants of a two-day workshop on 'Corruption in the Revenue System' held under the aegis of NAB Punjab here on Thursday
NAB's anti-corruption strategy is based on awareness and prevention. This is done by first, creating awareness in the general public by educating them on different methods being used by corrupt elements, to make money and fleece the general public.
And secondly, through prevention in the form of recommending changes to the prevalent archaic systems, procedures and rules and minimising cumbersome documentation process, Munir Hafiez added.
He pointed out that the present revenue system had been inherited from the British and that no major fundamental changes had been undertaken to revamp and improve this system, so as to make it more people friendly.
