Acid thrown on prayer leader in Multan

An unidentified attacker threw acid on a prayer leader in village Ali-wah (Mailsi) when he was going to toilet at 03:00 am.
The attacker took refuge in the toilet and threw acid as prayer leader Hafiz Muhammad Hafeez of Hayat-unnabi mosque reached there, resultantly his face and 60 percent body was affected.
On his hue and cry people of the area reached there but the attacker managed to escape taking advantage of darkness.
"We have registered a case under section-324 PPC against the attacker but it would be premature to say whether it was a terrorist activity or cause of enmity. However, footprints of the attacker were taken and we would soon reach to the culprit," DPO Vehari Mukhtar Iqbal Tikka told newsmen on Friday.
The condition of the prayer leader is stated to be serious in Tehsil Head Quarter Hospital, Mailsi, and he would be referred to Nishtar Hospital Multan.
