Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, along with members of their cabinet, on Saturday visited Mazar-e-Quaid and offered prayers (Fateha) on the occasion of the 56th death anniversary of the Father the Nation. They laid wreaths on the grave and recorded their impression in the Visitors' Register.
They paid glowing tributes to Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and pledged to follow in his footsteps.
They said that the Quaid changed the map of the British Indian subcontinent and against all odds created a separate homeland for the Muslims of India, and gave an honourable place to the Muslims to live their lives in accordance with their faith and convictions.
Sindh Chief Secretary Mohammad Aslam Sanjrani, Sindh IGP Syed Kamal Shah, DCO Mir Hussain Ali, City Police Chief Tariq Jamil and other civil and military officials also visited the Mazar and offered fateha.
Earlier, when the governor reached the Mazar, a smartly turned out Naval Police contingent and Chief Minister Arbab Rahim and his cabinet received him.
A large number of people had gathered to witness the ceremony and later to visit the Mazar and offer prayers.
