After the ordeal of one day on Monday people heaved a sigh of relief on Tuesday when they knew that the VVIPs had left Karachi, permitting them to return to their normal life.
Though vehicular traffic was permitted on all major roads of the city on Tuesday, some of the roads leading to Expo Centre were still under pressure and traffic jams were seen throughout the day.
Law enforcement personnel were checking all vehicles entering the exhibition area, particularly those which had dubious appearance and were passing through main gates of the exhibition ground.
Expo Centre is hosting a four-day defence equipment exhibition, 'Ideas-2004'. Representatives from more than 40 countries and a large number of people who have anything to do with defence related material production and scientists are participating in the exhibition.
The entire route from Nipa roundabout to Expo Centre was open for the vehicular traffic but commercial activities had not resumed.
Similarly, hotels where foreign participants are staying are causing inconvenience to commuters.
The law enforcement agencies have made adequate arrangements to provide protection to foreign visitors and their establishments against acts of terrorism.
Similarly, all important installations, buildings including religious buildings and sensitive government organisations have been provided protection.
