The five day international defence exhibition IDEAS 2004 being held at the Expo Center culminated on Friday with the pledge to hold IDEAS 2006 in a more splendid manner.
Though it was an undeclared private visitors' day at the Expo Center, a large number of people especially women and children thronged various stalls with much interest and curiosity to know what standards the country's defence production units have achieved over last 30 years.
President General Pervez Musharraf had inaugurated the international defence exhibition on September 13 while the Prime Minister, provincial Governors and Chief Ministers besides members of federal and provincial cabinets, foreign dignitaries, diplomats and senior civil and military officers visited the IDEAS 2004.
The area of greater attraction for visitors was the open air exhibition of indigenously developed missile systems included Shaheen-II, Ghauri, Shaheen-I, Ghaznavi and Abdali. These missiles can carry all type of payloads to destinations at various distances.
The locally developed Al-Khalid and Al-Zarrar tanks and other lethal moving machines were also on display.
The visitors including a large number of foreigners also witnessed sophisticated defence equipment at various stalls.
The Foreign delegates took great interest in air defence automation system, radars, bombs, rockets and other arms and ammunition.
They acknowledged these systems conform to international standards speaking of untiring efforts of Pakistani scientists and engineers.
Live firing of ammunition by both the armed forces of the country, hitting the respective targets from, air to air, air to ground and ground to ground with accuracy received thunderous applause from the spectators of the Live Fire Demonstration.
