Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Executive Committee Member Javed Hussain Dar has lodged a complaint with the Race Course police against LCCI Secretary Muhammad Younus for giving him life threats.
According to the FIR, Javed Hussain Dar has complained that he had gone to the office of the LCCI secretary on September 9 to file a written application to have a copy of decision taken a day before by him pertaining to rejection of nomination papers of "The Founders" candidates of Trade Group, Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan and Muhammad Saleem Shah.
He said that he remained there for about three hours but the secretary neither received his application nor gave him the copy of decision rather he received life threats.
Javed said that he did not take it seriously, but later LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman and Parvez Malik phoned him on September 10 and asked about the incident. On the same day, one of the LCCI members, Muhammad Asif, went to the chamber for some work where some people introduced themselves as relatives of the secretary and asked about Javed Dar.
Later reacting on this incident, LCCI Chief Mian Anjum Nisar said that Javed Hussain Dar had adopted rough behaviour with the secretary many a times. The LCCI secretary had requested him to take up the issue in the executive committee meeting.
In his opinion, Javed Hussain Dar had tried to damage the credibility of the institution. This incident had unveiled the faces of the opposition and now voters would boycott their candidates on September 21 and 22.
To a question, he said that when police visited the chamber, the LCCI secretary was present in his office. However, the police approached the LCCI president and later left the premises saying that they would further investigate the incident.
He also read out a resolution on this occasion adopted by the staff of the LCCI in which they had condemned the behaviour of "The Founders" members with the secretary.
Later, opposition leader in LCCI, Tahir Manzoor Chaudhry, while talking to newsmen said that it was a big tragedy that an executive committee member has been threatened for dire consequences. He said that they wanted to take up the matter in the executive committee meeting, but the president did not allow them.
