Acting President Mohammedmian Soomro on Tuesday conferred the award of Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) on Admiral Ozden Ornek, Commander of Turkish Naval Forces in a special investiture ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The award has been conferred in recognition of his services for cementing the fraternal relations between the Navies of Turkey and Pakistan.
Admiral Ornek, a sincere and close friend of Pakistan and the Pakistan Navy, has played a vital role in expanding co-operation between the Turkish and Pakistan, which has further strengthened the already existing bonds of friendship between Turkey and Pakistan.
Admiral Ozden Ornek is an outstanding and distinguished naval commander. H has held various important assignments both ashore and afloat during his long naval career.
Earlier, the Turkish Naval Commander called on the Acting President.
He thanked the people and Government of Pakistan for conferring the prestigious award on him.
The Acting President congratulated the Admiral Ornek and appreciated his endeavours for strengthening the ties between the Turkish and Pakistani Navies.
The ceremony was attended by Senior Defence Minister, Rao Sikandar Iqbal, Minister for Defence Production, Major Habibullah Warraich (retd), Minister of State for Defence Production, Umar Ahmed Ghumman, Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Shahid Karirnullah, Turkish Ambassador, Kemal Gur and other senior civil and military officials.
Admiral Ozden Ornek also called on Defence Minister Rao Sikandar Iqbal at his office.
The Admiral remained with the defence minister and discussed matters of mutual interest.
He also called on the acting President of Pakistan Mohammedmian Soomro and remained with him for some time.
Later, Admiral Ozden Ornek accompanied by his wife Madame Sevil Eren left for Karachi.
He was seen off by Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Shahid Karimullah and Begum Nasreen Shahid at PAF Base Chaklala.
