Sindh Government will establish three trauma centres in Karachi besides authorising at least one private health facility in each town of the city to provide first aid to victim of any casualty to save lives of people.
This was stated by the Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on Health, Faisal Malik while speaking at a press conference at his office on Tuesday.
He said trauma centres will be established to deal with accidental emergencies, specially for burn victims at Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
Faisal Malik maintained that health department had identified some private hospitals including Ziauddin Hospital North Nazimabad and Clifton campus, Nazir Hussain Medical Centre in Gulbarg Town, Holy Family Hospital in Jamsheed Town, Aga Khan and Liaquat National Hospitals in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town and the process of identifying more such facilities was underway.
"These private health facilities having 24-hour functional services like life saving drugs, minor OT, mobile x-ray unit, senior doctors and MLOs section.
'And due to having these facilities, these hospitals will be authorised to provide first aid to any type of victim without any prior permission to law enforcement agencies and agencies will be asked not to intervene during first aid process" he said.
Government will urge administrations of private hospitals to charge nominal fee in this regard, affordable for all the victims as government was not in a position to share the burden.
He said this plan would be implemented within a month, as summary had been floated to Chief Minister for approval.
Answering a question, he said FIR would be lodged against those blood banks, which found operational after ban and there could be a fine of Rs 5 lakh and two-year imprison according to act of blood transfusion authority. He said government was not blackmailing blood banks, but it was taking action only in favour of public.
About provision of anti-rabies vaccines at hospitals, he said Town Nazims were being provided with Rs 60000 annually to eliminate stray dogs from their towns and if they did accordingly rabies problems would not be any more.
Answering a query, he said burns unit of CHK would also be functional soon.
He said summary had also be forwarded to CM seeking approval for recruitment on 875 sanctioned vacant posts of doctors, paramedics in health department to meet shortage of staff.
He said work had also done for establishing service structure of paramedical staff in Sindh and positive results would be achieved soon.
Secretary Health Ashiq Hussain Memon and EDO Health Karachi Fazal Ilahi Memon were also present.
