The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has recently launched a programme designed to support faculty and research development in the disciplines of agriculture and engineering and fields related to these sectors.
HEC sources told APP here on Sunday that the three-year duration project is meant to motivate accomplished expatriate academicians and engineers to return home and assist in teaching and research activities at the agriculture and engineering public sector universities and degree awarding institutions (DAIs).
Special incentives would be provided to visiting faculty having PhD and an excellent track record in their field of specialisation.
They would be engaged for a one to two months period to undertake teaching assignments, assist in laboratory development and research, coach young faculty or graduate students in advanced research techniques or provide expertise in developing the curricula of new disciplines
The HEC would pay Rs 100,000 as one time remuneration, and a return economy air ticket while the host varsity would be paid Rs 24,000 for boarding and lodging of the visiting faculty.
It has asked desirous Pakistani expatriates involved in cutting-edge research at educational institutions or research and development organisations to submit their applications for placement at any of the public sector university needing their expertise.
No deadline for sending applications has so far been fixed. However, the decision would be made at appropriate dates with enough time for selected candidates to make necessary preparatory arrangements.
