Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Speaker Sardar Siab Khalid has termed President General Musharraf-Indian Prime Minister Man Mohan meeting, at the side lines of the 59th session of the UN General Assembly, a major breakthrough and seem positive development in Indian attitude.
Talking to newsmen here on Monday he said, "New Delhi has, for the first time, accepted Kashmir issue as a dispute and agreed to discuss it as a separate matter during the dialogues process."
Siab said: "The change in Indians traditional adamant attitude shows major and positive development regarding the peaceful solution of long-standing dispute of Kashmir."
AJK Speaker was of the opinion that credit goes to President General Pervez Musharraf who has advocated the cause of Kashmiri people at world forum in an energetic and courageous manner.
He said India acceptance for Kashmir dispute as an issue, to be resolved peacefully, was in fact a big breakthrough.
Siab said peace process could reach to a meaningful conclusion if India continued to accept the ground realties on Kashmir, adding the issue could be solved peacefully in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
He said that was a big change that India had agreed to discuss Kashmir issue as a separate issue unlike the past.
The AJK Speaker lauded the efforts and stance initiative of President Pervez Musharraf for the peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute with India.
He said: "Islam is peaceful religion and believes in the respects of the human beings and has nothing to do with terrorism and terrorists related activities."
The AJK Speaker said peace could bring progress and prosperity in the region but it was linked with the peaceful resolution of long-standing issue of Kashmir in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
