University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore (UVAS), in collaboration with governmental and non-governmental organisations/ institutions, is paying special attention on promotion of research and development of state-of-the-art infrastructure on its campus.
The UVAS vice-chancellor stated this while addressing a seminar on Wildlife Conservation and Management, organised by the Faculty of Fisheries and Wildlife of the university.
Nadeem Samnakay, Regional Extension Officer of the Wildlife and Parks Queensland, Australia, spoke about the wildlife conservation and management in Australia. Ali Hassan Habib, DG WWF-Pakistan, was the chief guest on the occasion.
The VC said: "Various development projects are being prepared, while new courses in wildlife, fisheries, and other related fields are being introduced keeping in view the emerging trends of the market."
The university has made compulsory six-month internship for DVM students so that they could have some practical experience, he added.
He further said: "The university is progressing slowly but steadily and consolidating its academic programmes for maintaining and further improving the quality of education."
The university has also launched a monthly lecture series to sensitise teachers and students about the current issues and problems, he added.
