Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to form a joint working group (JWG) to resolve all trade issues and evolve a transparent and sustainable trade facilitation system.
It was decided in a meeting of 10-member Afghan trade delegation with Minister of State for Commerce, Hamid Yar Hiraj here on Wednesday. Ghulam Nabi Farahi, Deputy Minister of Commerce, and Ghulam Jailani Popal, Deputy Minister of Finance, led the Afghan delegation during talks.
The two sides also agreed to hold inter-ministerial meetings on weekly basis to resolve all the issues regarding Afghan Transit Trade.
The Afghan delegation expressed its concern over recently imposed tax by the Government of Sindh, and problems faced at seaport, railways and customs stations pertaining to trade and transit issues.
The Pakistani side assured the delegation that the government would take all necessary steps to address all the outstanding issues threatening the trade between the two countries.
