Sindh Education Minister Hamida Khuhro has said that quality education was the right of every child in the province no matter where he lives.
Speaking as the chief guest at the annual day function of Bahria Foundation School/College Hyderabad here on Thursday, she said that in order to achieve desired objectives, co-operation between public and private sectors is very essential.
She said that the provincial government was working to revamp Education Department to ensure right of quality education to every child without any discrimination.
She said that the procedure of posting of teachers on detailment basis has been abolished following growing complaints of shortage of teaching staff in rural areas as many of the teachers managed to get posted in big cities through detailment system. She said abolishment of this system would ensure teaching staff at each institution to make all government schools operational.
She said she had directed the officials of the department that the decision and directive should be implemented to ensure quality education.
Hamida Khuhro said in order to ensure capacity building of the government educational institutions it has been decided to impart training to existing teaching staff and to recruit new qualified staff on contract basis.
Lauding the services rendered by Bahria Foundation in the field of education, she said that educational institutions established by Bahria Foundation were model institutions by virtue of discipline and standard of education.
She called upon other educational institutions to follow the same spirit, especially in providing better education to the people of remote areas of the province.
Bahria Foundation Managing Director Vice Admiral Irfan Ahmed in his address said that the Foundation has planned to extend its education network in the interior of Sindh to fill the gap of standard of education. He said that Bahria Foundation was not a profitable organisation, but aimed to work for the welfare of the deserving people.
He said that co-operation of the local people as well as provincial government was required to promote educational activities, especially in the rural areas. He also presented a shield to the provincial minister on behalf of Bahria Foundation.
Bahria Foundation School/ College Principal Aziz Ellahi also spoke on the occasion.
