The Minister of State for Railways, Muhammad Ishaq Khan Khakwani, has said that stern action would be taken against those who would be responsible for running the trains late, and punctuality would be introduced in railway like past when people tallying their watch with trains.
He stated this while presiding over a meeting of Railway officers, he said the duration of travel between Lahore and Multan would be reduced by 30 minutes, and passengers could reach their destination by Shah Shams Express in 4-30 hours.
He asked the Railway authorities to attach a bogey with Quetta-bound Chiltan Express on Dera Ghazi Khan-Quetta section, saying: "We would review a proposal to introduce a fast train between Bahawalnagar and Karachi, changing the route of night coach coming from Faisalabad to facilitate the travelling people."
He asked the authorities to attach an air-conditioned coaster with 19-Up Khushal Express and 37-Up Fareed Express.
Ishaq Khan Khakwani expressed his dissatisfaction on the performance of the staff, and urged them to improve themselves in providing better services to the passengers.
He also directed the official concerned to provide better medical facilities to the railway employees, post gynaecologists in railway hospitals, and increase the railway medical budget.
