The senate standing committee has directed the tourism ministry to prepare a comprehensive feasibility report on leasing out the Pakistan Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (PITHM) and the Pakistan Austrian Institute of Training and Hotel Management (PIATHM).
Sources told this scribe here on Saturday that the meeting of the senate standing committee was held on Friday in the National Assembly building, in which the tourism secretary presented a report on leasing of two tourism training institutes PITHM, Karachi, and PIATHM, Swat.
Sources further said that recommendations for giving the institutes on lease were put up during the regime of former Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali, but due to some technical reasons the plan was not approved.
The standing committee has decided that the committee will review the merits and demerits of the proposed report.
It is also learnt that leasing of both welfare institutes would not be beneficial for the government and for the people who are getting training there.
