Chief of the PML election cell for upcoming Legislative Council and Local Bodies polls in Northern Areas Senator Nisar A Memon here on Sunday said that the government was committed to develop infrastructures facilities for the people of the area, as it wanted to improve their living standard.
He stated this while addressing a representative body of Northern Areas Traders Association, which called on him here on Sunday.
President of the Association Jumma Khan and vice-president Dr Shireen Bakht led the delegation.
Nisar Memon said: "The government keeps the traders in high esteem and wants to resolve their problems on priority basis as they play an important role in the socio-economic development of the country."
He assured the traders that the government would look into their problems and steps would also be taken to resolve them. Nisar A Memon assured them that problems relating to supply of electricity and LPG gas would be resolved for the development of the area and the welfare of the traders' community.
He asked them to send him proposals and suggestions, which he would discuss with the concerned authorities for earlier redress. He also asked them to establish a computer-training centre and install five computers there for which the government would also assist them.
Nisar Memon urged the traders to support and vote for the PML candidates for the development of the area. He said: "President Musharraf is according top priority to the development of Northern Areas and was due to visit the areas on October 9 to announce a development package but due to bad weather his visit was cancelled.
The traders' representatives apprised Nisar Memon of their problems and also assured him that the traders' community would support the PML candidates in the forthcoming elections. They thanked the government for taking keen interest in the socio-economic development of Northern Areas.
Later, Nisar Memon visited various markets and shared his views with the businessmen and also inquired about the their problems.
Chief Co-ordinator Northern Area election cell Akbar Hussain and secretary general Anjuman-e-Tajiran Gilgit Mushtaq were also present on the occasion.
