With a view to disseminate new curriculum for MA Economics Part-I & Part-II Examinations to be implemented from the academic session 2004-2005, Punjab University arranged a seminar here on Monday.
Addressing the seminar, PU Vice-chancellor Arshad Mahmood called for converting the syllabus into curriculum to improve the intellectual ability of students.
He was of the view that new curriculum must be market-based. He also urged the teachers to improve their teaching abilities.
Chairman, Department of Economics, Professor Dr Muhammad Aslam said, "we studied curriculum of 12 foreign universities before the revision of the curriculum and we can claim that this curriculum is of international standards."
He said new topics like "Major issues in Pakistan", "Political Economy" and "Regional Dynamics" have been included in the curriculum to equip the students with latest theories. He said new curriculum would enable the students to cope with future challenges in a better way.
Dean Faculty of Arts, Professor Dr Rauf Ahmed Butt also spoke on the occasion.
