The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) is all set to establish three garment cities with Chinese assistance in Karachi, Lahore and Faisalabad, it is learnt on Wednesday.
The garment cities will have state-of-the-art facilities and produce world class products, which would compete in the international market - price-wise and quality-wise.
EPB Vice Chairman Abid Javed Akber, while briefing the 20-member Chinese delegation, said besides setting up the garment cities, there were areas such as textile, food products, marble and granite, light engineering, and many other sectors where possibilities for joint venture existed.
Chinese delegation chief and Xinjiang Governor Ismail Tillwaidi said the Chinese government allowed the import of mangoes from Pakistan, which will provide a golden opportunity to Pakistani mango exporters to enter the Chinese market.
The two sides have fruitful discussions on mutual business and joint venture interest, and exchanged views on some of the immediate options open for both the sides.
The Chinese delegation visited the Export Display Centre, and appreciated the range, quality of products, particularly marble, yarn, fans, and bed-linen.
