The Textile Quota Management Directorate (TQMD) has released over-programming quota and compensation quota in Category-20 as per orders of the Sindh High Court (SHC).
According to an official of TQMD here on Thursday, as per the decision arrived at in consultation with the Commerce Ministry, a quantity of 1,500 tonnes of exceptional flexibility quota for 2004 is to be allocated proportionately/pro rata basis.
The quota will be allocated to those whose performance quota was blocked in 2003 on account of over-programming availed of in 2002 and those who were not issued 2002 visas against their shipments of 2002. He said this decision has been taken in conformity with the directives of the Sindh High Court in its order dated 12-11-2003 to miscellaneous applications filed in suits No 1034, 1035, 1057 and 1317/2003.
Accordingly, 750 tonnes of quota for each set of above referred claimants is being allocated/ released to them as follows:
QUOTA AGAINST OVER=PROGRAMMING: In addition to 10.22 percent already released in 2003 a further quantity of 24 percent of the 50 percent blocked over-programming to those, whose 50 percent over-programming was blocked in 2003 will be released accordingly.
COMPENSATION QUOTA: In addition to 26.45 percent quantity already released in 2003 of the quantity shipped in 2002 but visa obtained in 2003, due to exhaustion of quota ceiling of 2002, the remaining quantity of 73.55 percent will be released. The TQMD has advised the concerned associations to forward the claims of their members on the prescribed proforma at the earliest.
