Bangladesh tea prices slide

The average price of Bangladeshi teas continued to slide on poor quality at weekly tea auction on Tuesday, brokers said.
Buyers from the Commonwealth of Independent States, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh participated in the auction.
"There was fair demand, but the average price declined following quality," Rafay Nizam, a director of NBL said.
Well made Brokens, Fannings and Dust fetched higher prices, but plainer types, constituting most of the offerings at the auction, eased compared to the last sale, he said
Some 100 kg good liquoring Broken Orange Pekoe realised the highest price of 107 taka per kg while other grades sold between 56 taka and 103 taka per kg.
The next weekly auction will be on November 2 with an expected offering of 1.26 million kg of tea.
