Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday disposed of contempt of court applications against jail authorities on shifting of two activists of Harkatul Mujahideen Al-Alami from Karachi jail to Hyderabad despite court orders.
Mst Rukhsana Farhat mother of Sharib Farooqui, and Muhammad Raees Khan, father of Hafiz Zubair filed contempt of court application against jail authorities alleging their sons were shifted from Karachi jail to Hyderabad jail despite court order. Hafiz Zubair and Sharib along with Imran and Hanif were convicted by Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) on April 16, 2003 in US Consulate bomb blast case and their appeals are pending in SHC.
When the matter was taken up on Monday, petitioner's counsel did not press the application and desired to withdraw the same as prisoners have already been shifted to Karachi last month. The court disposed of the application after withdrawal by the petitioners.
