President George W Bush's re-election would ensure continuity of US policy about Pakistan and Islamabad would not face any difficulty to receive the five-year dollars 3.2 billion aid package, Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri said on Thursday.
"President Musharraf enjoys very good working relations with President Bush and the US administration and we are sure that this relationship will continue," Kasuri told a private television in an interview.
"We have already established a level of trust. The US respects Pakistan policy over nuclear non-proliferation and Afghanistan," the Foreign Minister said.
He said there would be no hurdle for Pakistan to receive a dollars 3.2 billion aid package announced by George Bush during President Musharraf' s state visit to the United States last year.
"Some Congressmen tried to block the aid package but that move was foiled by the US administration," He dispelled the impression that there was any American pressure on Pakistan for taking some decision and said "Pakistan faces no pressure. Pakistan is a big country and make decisions on its own choice," he said.
Kasuri said Pakistan had neither supported the US invasion of Iraq nor sent troops there despite requests. The Foreign Minister welcomed democratic process in Afghanistan and hoped that all ethnic groups would get share in the government set up.
About the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan, Mahmood Kasuri said President Karzai would himself ask withdrawal of foreign troops if Afghanistan's own national army and police took shape.
