The ambassador of European Union (EU) in Pakistan, Ilkka Uusitalao has said that the tourism industry of Pakistan would be flourished especially in Northern Areas by encouraging paragliding as a sports activity. He said this while addressing as a chief-guest at the closing ceremony of two days paragliding course at Abbottabad on Sunday, said a press release.
The seven members' professional German Para gliders team have imparted training to Pakistani Para gliders including members of Sky Gliders Club (SGC) and Army School of Physical Training at Kakul (ASPT).
They were trained in different disciplines including carbon spin central spin, big ear, spirals, forward and backward pitching, sideways pitching, wing-over, operating reserve parachutes and packing of reserve parachutes.
The trainers include Yens (In charge of European Union in Kabul), Robert, Monica, Claus, Caremon, Peter and Andrew from the Germany.
Beside the seven-member team of ASPT, Ilkka Uusitalao, Wahid Mir, Amanullah Khan, and Akhter Hussein received training at Kohala Heights Khanpur.
Two Pakistani Para gliders successfully demonstrated fall of jump at Khanpur lake while Haveldar Bashir of Pakistan Army showed skills in hang gliders display especially arranged by the Army School of Physical Training (ASPT).
Speaking on the occasion Illka said that Pakistan's Northern Areas are providing excellent opportunities to the enthusiasts of adventure sports in general and Para gliders in particular.
Para gliding, he said is the most popular sport in the world as only in Germany there are more then 30,000 Para gliders.
He said it is being used world-wide as main tool of interaction and developed cultural values among the countries.
Earlier, German trainer Robert Klusacek who is professional Para glider himself said that he was going to invite Pakistani Pare gliders soon to Germany for further training.
They would be provided all sort of technical training and assistance to purchase kits and other items to promote Paragliding sport in Pakistan.
He impressed with Pakistan gliders performance and informed that his next time visit to Pakistan, would train Pakistani's Para gliders in long distance flights.
