Pakistan and Norway have agreed to enhance trade and investment, with two sides reaching an understanding over a joint strategy in the next ministerial round on WTO. The issue was discussed during a meeting between Commerce Minister, Humayun Akhtar Khan and a four member Norwegian delegation led by Mrs. Sylvi Graham, Deputy Foreign Minister here on Wednesday.
Main thrust of the meeting was to enhance level of trade and investment between the two countries.
Commerce Minister apprised the delegation of trade and economic reforms undertaken by the government in recent years and said Pakistan was a safe haven for foreign investment.
He said there was great scope for foreign investment in telecom, hydel power generation, IT and tourism in Pakistan.
Mrs. Sylvi Graham appreciated the Commerce Minister's views on enhancing bilateral trade, which she said was in the interest of both the countries.
Both sides discussed Doha Development Agenda and agreed to adopt a joint strategy in the next ministerial round on WTO.
Humayun said, the member countries should be realistic in their expectations in order to make the round a success.
