Sonam Kapoor had an aim to be like her father – Anil Kapoor – but she never really desired to become an actor. Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor expressed that her father had disconnected with her at the age of 18, giving her confidence to take her own decisions.
Speaking during an interview with an Indian media outlet, she said Anil Kapoor was more of a friend than a father to her and always encouraged her to be independent in life.
When asked about what it was like being the daughter of an actor in terms of privileges and perks when she entered the industry, Sonam said: “My father cut me off when I was 18... He said you want to become an adult, become an adult.”
Sonam said: “I had to take responsibility and I did ... and it is one of the best things anybody has ever done for me. You know he said that I never want to make a decision for you. I can tell you what is right or what is wrong but at the end you have to make your own decision.
“I love it, because I can attribute a lot to my father ... but every decision that I made in my career, every misstep and every triumph has all been my own.”
Sonam also mentioned how she would like to start a family some day, but wasn’t looking to settle down any time soon.
The Bollywood beauty was last seen in movie ‘Neerja’. She will be featured next to Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor in her upcoming movie ‘Veer Di Wedding’, according to media reports.
