Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police has not so far been able to get vacated even a single house out of 354 government houses from illegal occupation of its officials despite a resolution passed by National Assembly and repeated calls by parliamentary panels to this effect. Sources told Business Recorder here on Sunday that the special teams formed in this regard were finding it hard to convince the illegal occupants to vacate these houses.
They said that the illegal occupants--police officials--did not bother even to hear their colleagues in the special teams when the latter approached them to discuss the matter.
"Go about your own business. How dare the government asks us to leave the houses we have been living in with our families for years?" was the typical response of most of the occupants when they were asked to vacate the houses they occupied illegally, sources said.
From this, one can get a fair picture of how strong 'some' individuals and departments are as they are never afraid of flouting the directives of an institution as prestigious as the National Assembly.
These teams were formed after the Senate Standing Committee in its October 12 meeting which gave 10 days time to ICT police to get the government houses vacated from illegal occupants.
