A senior Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) leader Qazi Hussain Ahmad said that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz's address to the nation reflected the tone of a representative of President Musharraf and added the Prime Minister talked to the nation as an agent of the President. Expressing reaction over the Prime Minister's address, the opposition leader said that the Prime Minister talked about continuity of policies which means that President Musharraf's last five years policies will be continued and "there will be martial law in the country".
His speech clearly indicated that he will work under supervision of Pervez Musharraf, Qazi remarked. The MMA leader maintained that people got nothing.
Responding to Prime Minister's statement regarding uniform issue, Qazi told the VOA that the parliament has no power to pass the amendment with simple majority. "The government party resorted to this while breaking all democratic norms".
Referring to the invitation to the Opposition for talks the opposition leader said that the Prime Minister should give fresh invitation after fulfilling conditions of the talks, which he conducted earlier.
"Secondly we are sitting, present, meet and talk with each other in the parliament daily. It is need of the hour to implement results of the talks. He has no authority to implement the outcome of the talks being an agent of Pervez Musharraf".
Commenting on the Prime Minister's speech Qazi further said that his promise to give employment, education and end poverty is nothing more than dreams. "He has shown many dreams".
The real thing is implementation of the schemes and what he said should be implemented, Qazi said. "All these beautiful promises were made 57 years ago when Pakistan had come into existence. He has talked about fixing of direction. But he failed to make any solid announcement in this regard", the MNA and head of the Jamaat-i-Islami pointed out.
