Federal Education Minister, Javed Ashraf Qazi on Tuesday said that the government has almost distributed Rs 5 billion among the provinces to assist registered Madaris. He said that a three-member committee has been formed to seek assistance of Aga Khan Education Board to launch a National Testing Service for an analytical examination system in the country. The minister was talking to newsmen at 'Best Teachers Awards' ceremony held at Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) here.
To a query, Javed Qazi said that the Madaris reforms project is functioning smoothly and the government has distributed Rs 5 billion among the provinces under this programme.
He maintained that there is still Rs 1 billion left for Madaris reforms and it would soon be distributed to newly registered Madaris. "We have not stopped funding of any Madaris. The government is fully assisting all the registered Madaris," the Minister added.
Javed Ashraf Qazi said that it was decided in the cabinet meeting that there should be a National Testing Service to develop an analytical examination system in the country.
Appreciating the performance of Aga Khan Education Board, he went on to say that they have offered their services to the government and a three-member committee has been formed in this regard, comprising Chairman of FBISE and other two chairman of Lahore and Karachi boards.
Replying to another query, the federal education minister said that Aga Khan Education Board would only develop examination system while the ministry will be responsible for preparing national curriculum.
When asked about the launching of monitoring and evaluation cell, Javed Qazi said that it would be helpful to keep an eye on all projects and to control irregularities.
Later, the minister gave away awards to 25 teachers belonging to the institutions affiliated with federal board on showing excellent results in the Annual Examination 2004.
