A high level German police delegation here on Saturday called on Director General, National Police Bureau (NPB), Islamabad Muhammad Shoaib Suddle. The German police delegation comprises BKA (Federal Criminal Police) Vice President Dr Bernhard FALK, Guergen MAURER, Head of Counter terrorism Division, Max-Peter RATZEL, Head of Organised and General Crime Division and Ralf MUTSCHKE, Head of International Co-operation Department.
The Director General briefed the delegation about police reforms being carried out by the present government and how these seek to improve the quality of policing as rule of law in the country.
The delegation showed keen interest in various new institutions envisaged under Police Order 2002, like Public Safety Commissions, Independent Prosecution Service and Police Complaints Authority.
The delegation was apprised of the government's programme in relation to establishing National Forensic Science Agency; Automated Fingerprint Identification system and national Criminal Data Base in Pakistan.
Women's participation in policing, matters concerning police capacity building, extradition and technical co-operation also came under discussion.
The Director General thanked the German delegation for extending training facilities to police and assured continued mutual co-operation in future.
