Sindh Minister for Social Welfare and Culture Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani has sought a report about the seniority list of officers of Social Welfare Department (SWD) within two days. He issued the directive while speaking as chief guest at a reception hosted by Social Welfare Officers Association here on Thursday. Earlier, Association President Anwar Hussain, while highlighting the problems of department officials, pointed out seniority list of officials had not been issued for last two years.
He had also pinpointed the problems like nomination of favourites for local and foreign training programmes, restoration of posts of medical social welfare officers and appointment of junior officials in senior grades.
The Minister directed procedure for nomination of officers for training programmes should be made transparent so that all officials could have equal opportunities.
He assured to take up their problems regarding up-gradation of Grade-16 posts, increase in the budget, restoration of posts of medical social welfare officer with the Provincial Finance Minister Sardar Ahmed.
He also held out assurance with regard to the election of Sindh Para Medical Staff Association and the problem of their registration.
Addressing the staff and officials, Shabbir Qaimkhani said if any initiative was taken with a sense of dedication and spirit the resources were automatically generated while a positive change could be brought about with practical efforts. He said, "the time will leave us behind, if we ignored to understand its value."
"We, as officers are deriving all facilities and incentives from the government and, as such we should show our allegiance to passing time and make punctuality as a mission of life," Qaimkhani advised.
He called for widening the scope of social services collectively with a vigil on NGOs working on papers only so that action could be taken against them. He said, "everything will set right the day we will have the conviction that this country is our country and any harm to it will be harm to us."
On the occasion the Association's President presented a shield and bouquet to the Minister.
