French telecoms equipment maker Alcatel said on Friday it had won a contract to provide a voice over Internet protocol system for Pakistani fixed-line and wireless service provider Telecard. Alcatel described the deal in a statement as a "multi-million dollar contract", but provided no further financial information. Telecard will first deploy the voice over IP services in the capital Islamabad, and then roll it out to at least 11 other cities, Alcatel said.
