Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) should announce industrial tariff for the food industry in Punjab like the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) which announced tariff for the food industry in Sindh. Lahore Township Industries Association Chairman Ahsan Mehmood Butt and Senior Vice Chairman Nasrullah Mughal demanded this in a statement issued here on Friday.
They said that Sui Southern Company was charging Rs18.9 MMBTU from its food industry, while in Punjab, the rate for the food industry was Rs204.88 MMBTU, which was quite unjustified. This disparity was hitting the food industry and demands an immediate action, he added.
They said that a number of times, the gas authorities attention was drawn towards this sensitive issue, but no action has so far been taken. They appealed to Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Industries and Production Minister Jehangir Khan Tareen to intervene into the affair and save the food industry of the province.
