The Canadian dollar weakened on Monday as selling against the euro overcame the impact of stronger-than-expected Canadian economic data and a greenback that was generally lower against the majors. The domestic currency finished at C$1.2294 to the US dollar, or 81.34 US cents, down from C$1.2271 to the US dollar, or 81.49 US cents, at Friday's close.
With trading floors only partially staffed going into the holidays, the euro made strong gains against the Canadian currency in spite of a stronger-than-expected 0.2 percent increase in Canadian wholesale trade in October.
