National Council for Agriculture Research (Narc) Director General Dr Muhammad Ashraf has urged the unemployed educated youth to equip themselves with the modern techniques of the agriculture and play effective role in strengthening the country's economy. "Youth is vanguard of the country's economic force and once Pakistani youth come in agriculture sector with latest techniques, the country will attain glory and strength in this sector", Dr Ashraf said while addressing the concluding ceremony of a 10-day training course on livestock development held at the Narc Technology Transfer Institute.
The Narc Director General lauded the interest shown by the trainees, and said the latest techniques would give them better results and increase their income, which would help them improve their living standard.
He called upon the experts to take immediate measures to impart result-oriented agriculture skills to unemployed youth. "It is imperative to kill the gene of poverty and unemployment to divert the attention of unemployed youth towards agriculture and other skillfull sectors, which would give them honourable livelihood", he added.
Dr Ashraf said that unemployed educated youth, if took part in the agriculture activities with modern techniques, would help strengthen the country's economy, besides meeting the food requirements of Pakistan and neighbouring countries.
The experts apprised the farmers about the diseases of the livestock and the preventive measures of those diseases.
They were also given training how to get better yield from livestock and from the use of land for this purpose.
The training course was attended by people involved in livestock development in Rawalpindi division, including Kotli Sattiyan, Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, Tala Gung and Rawalpindi.
