The tug of war in the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FPCCI) would have serious impacts on the Pakistan's economy both domestically as well as internationally. These were the unanimous views of senior executives and the former presidents of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry in a meeting held here in the chamber office on Tuesday.
The meeting was presided over by President RCCI Najam Rehan and attended by former presidents, including Mian Pervaiz Aslam, Mian Habib Ullah, Sohail Altaf, SVP Jalil Ahmed Malik, VP Syed Asad Mashadi and other executives of the chamber.
"The FPCCI is a representative forum of the business community of Pakistan having an important role in economic stability of the country," the participants of the meeting said, adding, "this tension in the Federation should come to an end for the best national interest."
Addressing the meeting Najam Rehan called upon the Director Trade Organisation (DTO) to look into the matter seriously and resolve the issue on priority basis by using the powers delegated by the court.
"The tension in the Federation is harming the country's economic activities," he said, adding, "it is obligatory for all business leaders to maintain a business-friendly atmosphere to earn a good name."
Mian Pervaiz Aslam, while expressing his views, observed that the FPCCI has always played its effective role in bringing a good name to the country. "The emerging situation in the FPCCI is a point of concern for the business community and need proper attention," he said and called upon the concerned authorities to resolve the issues with trade bodies.
