Pakistan Yarn Merchants' Association (PYMA) (Punjab-Sarhad Zone) thanked Abdullah Yousaf, Chairman, Central Board of Revenue, for his decision to accept all income tax returns for the tax year 2003-04.
In a joint press statement, Munawar A. Sheikh, Central Chairman, Mian Khushnud Ahmad, Chairman, Punjab and Sarhad Zone and Muhammad Ashraf Gandhi, former Chairman PYMA said that the business community has come up to the expectations of the CBR by achieving the Revenue Target. It vindicates that the confidence reposed on the business community is worthwhile, they added.
Trade leaders also endorsed the present economic policies of the government and expressed their full confidence.
They said that the present policy of reposing confidence on the community would further strengthen the economy of the country. They have also expressed their apprehension on the proposal of giving powers to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in tax related issues.
This would nullify the efforts being made by CBR to bring the business community closer to the government and would have a negative impact on the strengthening economy of the country.
