The District Council Lahore could not continue its proceedings mainly on account of lacking quorum, pointed out by the opposition members here on Monday. Naib Nazim Lahore Farooq Amjad Meer could not preside over the meeting due to demise of his close relative while District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood who was also scheduled to attend the meeting failed to turn up.
The meeting, through a resolution, expressed sorrow over loss of thousands of lives in South Asian countries due to tsunami tragedy and prayed for the eternal peace of departed souls. The members also suggested postponing holding of Basant festival this year and amount allocated under this head must be donated for the help of the tsunami victims.
A 30-member delegation from Abbottabad District Council headed by Naib Nazim Abbottabad, Barrister Javed Abbasi also attended the meeting.
