Lahore High Court (LHC), while taking serious notice of attitude of law officers towards court proceedings, has directed the Deputy Attorney General of Pakistan to appear before the court on next date of hearing. The court passed these orders in a petition against the officials performing Haj and Umrah on official expenses.
The court observed that petition was filed in 1999, and so far no law officer appeared before the court to submit reply to the petition.
The petitioner, a member of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA), M.D. Tahir had approached the court against the government officials and public representatives for performing Haj and Umrah on government expenses. He prayed to the court to restrain the respondent government from sending any person on Haj or Umrah on government expenses.
