The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notices to Attorney General of Pakistan and Advocate General Punjab in a petition filed by Town Nazim Mian Amir Munir challenging the constitution of special anti-corruption courts and appointment of judges for these courts. The petitioner contended that constitution of these courts was in violation of the constitutional provisions.
He, therefore, prayed to the court to declare the constitution of the respondent courts as illegal and unconstitutional.
The court, after hearing petitioner's counsel at length, issued notices to the respondents and directed the law officers to assist the court on points raised in the petition.
LHC DISPOSES OFF PETITION: The Lahore High Court, while turning down the prayer for recovery of one Ahmed Ali of Baseerpur (Okara) with the help of army, disposed of the petition. The court, however, observed the petitioner could approach the court again, if District Police Officer (DPO) failed to recover the detainee.
The court disposed off the petition when DPO Okara assured the court that detainee would be recovered. The respondent DPO also assured the court he would arrange recovery of detainee within five days.
The court, after assurance of the DPO, rejected the plea of the petitioner's counsel M D Tahir for calling army help for recovery of detainee.
STAY CONFIRMED: A judge of the Labour High Court Syed Shahbaz Hassan Gardezi confirmed the stay order issued in a petition by NNI news agency Bureau Chief Makhdoom Bilal Amir.
The court also allowed the petitioner to work in the bureau office.
The petitioner has challenged his termination from the news agency.
