A consultative workshop will be held at a local hotel on Wednesday, January 19 under the aegis of Smeda to seek input from stake holders before the preparation of a final draft of the national SME policy. According to Smeda sources, the preliminary draft of the first ever national policy for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) has been finalised.
Punjab Finance Minister Husnain Dareshak will be the chief guest at the inaugural session of the workshop, which will be attended by representatives from the industrial sector, especially from SMEs.
Sources said that Smeda had already organised a workshop in Karachi on January 15, while similar discourses will be organised in Quetta on January 29, in Peshawar on February 9 and in Islamabad on February 16. They said that the policy was likely to be announced well before the end of the current fiscal year.
