Two officials of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) have requested Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to direct the Pakistan International Airlines to hold at least ten seats on each of its flights operating to and from Islamabad for lawyers. In a letter sent to Prime Minister on Wednesday, Arshad Ali Chaudhary, Secretary Finance SCBA and Chaudhary Afrasiab Khan, former president of High Court Bar at Rawalpindi have also sought concessional fares for their colleagues who are above the age of 65 years on the national carrier, trains and buses.
This concession was available to senior citizens throughout the world and a beginning should be made in Pakistan with the eligible members of the bar who have very often to travel in connection with their professional engagements.
They have also sought an exemption for lawyers of above 65 years from filing income tax returns.
About the holding of seats on PIA flights, they explained the fixation of time limit for the purchase of tickets as in the case of a quota for government officials that becomes available to general public two hours before the flight.
