Federal Minister for Information Technology (IT) Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari on Wednesday said Call Centre Conference being held in Karachi on January 29-30, would help boost investment and job opportunities in Pakistan. Talking to a private TV channel, the Minister said about 25 leading international business groups, including Indian companies, would participate in the conference. Senior decision makers of global multinational companies would also participate, he added.
Awais Leghari said the major purpose of that conference was to provide Pakistani businessmen, entrepreneurs, bankers, IT professionals and investors with an opportunity to listen and analyse the success stories of international leaders in the field of international call centers.
To a question he said they had no objection about the participation of Indian businessmen in such joint venture in Pakistan. "They (Indian businessmen) were coming as there was good environment in call centres' sector in Pakistan."
The minister said the government was helping call centre industry by creating good environment, making good policies and facilitating investors.
He said reliable international connectivity, cost of bandwidth and human resources attract the foreign investors in the country.
He further said Pakistan would host international conference for the first time, in which experts would discuss technology, human resource training, business development and other subjects related to the call centre sector.
He said the global call centre business had turned into an industry of dollars 50 billion, which was increasing by 30 per cent annually.
Responding to a question, he said anybody related to the call centres could invest in that sector but the sector could not perform well without professionalism.
