Acting Advocate General Punjab (AGP) said on Friday that law and order situation will be maintained on the occasion of 'Basant' and no illegal activity will be allowed. The acting AGP, Hanif Khatana appeared on two identical petitions against Basant. He informed that the City District government and police had constituted 120 teams for patrolling and monitoring the situation.
The court disposing of a plea of M. D. Tahir advocate ruled that his two identical petitions had been disposed of with directions to Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) to prepare recommendations for legislation in this regard. The court directed the petitioner to approach the council to resolve his grievance.
The court also disposed of another identical petition filed by Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi with directions to the government to maintain law and order on this occasion.
M. D. Tahir advocate had submitted that kite flying caused wastage of public money, time etc. He submitted that kite flying was violation of fundamental rights guaranteed under Articles 9, 14, 15, 24, 31 and of Section 3 of the Shariah Act 1991.He had also submitted that kite flying is an offence under 188 PPC.
