Pakistan Coast Guards officials have arrested two drug peddlers at the Uthal check-post, and recovered 1,055 kg hashish and 28-kg opium costing million of rupees, a press release of the PCG said on Wednesday. The arrest of the peddlers became possible after a tip-off from an informer. The PCG intercepted the identified truck No TKD-473 at Uthal Check Post and searched it thoroughly. Hashish and opium concealed in cavities were recovered. The truck has been impounded and two persons have been detained by the PCG.
The detainees are identified as Ghulam Nabi s/o Muhammad Hussein and Abdur Rasheed s/o Musa. Both are residents of Lasbella district (Balochistan).
To assess the exact valuation of the contraband, that the PCG might have carried out several attempts to establish contacts with Major Riaz Bangash, PRO/in-charge were made but in vain. The exact assessment of the value of the contraband facilitates in assessing the amount of prize money that the officers who arrest the peddlers and make seizure get. When the arrest was made has not been disclosed.
