Welcoming the recent decision to start the bus service from Srinagar to Muzaffarabad, President of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Muslim Conference Sardar Atiq-ur-Rehman has said that Pakistan and India need further confidence-building measures (CBMs). Addressing a new conference here on Thursday, Sardar Atiq said that both countries played a positive role by agreeing on commencing the bus service between two main Kashmir cities, adding that it would help unite the stranded families of the valley. He said that India should withdraw its forces from the Muslim majority areas in the occupied Kashmir to normalise relations.
Talking about the current loss of lives and property in the valley because of the torrential rain and avalanche, Sardar Atiq said that at least 70 people have died and about 600 houses were destroyed in the valley.
He deplored that government did not pay any attention towards the plights of the people in Kashmir, and demanded of the government to send relief teams with food and other necessary items to rehabilitate the people.
Atiq also accused the media for not highlighting the problems of the people of Kashmir, after the torrential rains.
