Rotary International, the world-wide charity, is holding its centennial functions on February 23 all over the world during which conferences, seminars, workshops and get-together parties would be arranged round the globe. In this connection, Rotary Club Islamabad (RCI) would hold a grand dinner in which senior Rotarians would take part and cut the cake of 100th anniversary of the Rotary International, said RCI President Haji Fazal ur Rehman here on Friday.
Briefing the reporters about the activities of the Rotary International round the globe, he said that that was really a time of joy and excitement for the Rotarians all over world.
Rotary International has decided to make a 'Time Capsule' on this occasion of 100 year attached, he said adding all Rotarians would write their messages on their achievements and projects in the rotary and advice for next generation of rotary family. All these messages would be put in the time capsule, which would be opened on the bi-centennial celebrations in 2105, he added.
"100th Birthday of the Rotary International would be a memorable event, because it's no doubt a group of lucky people who will attend this grand ceremony", he said adding, "You celebrate many occasions but the centennial comes after 100 years".
He said a Centennial District Conference would be held in Peshawar from April 8 to 10. Delegates from all Rotary Clubs of Pakistan, India and Afghanistan would take part. A District Conference Souvenir would be published and distributed among all delegates and participants, he said adding it would also be circulated to the Chambers of Commerce, leading multi-national and business companies.
Talking on the special charity projects on centennial celebrations, Fazal said 600 sq yards plot would be donated by the Vice President Gulzar Ahmed for construction of a community centre with educational and health facilities. He said four computers would also be donated to a school.
Fazal added Rotarians were fully charged to celebrate the centennial function with zeal.
