MMA and ARD, both the opposition parties alliances have unanimity that military domination on the politics should be ended and 1973 Constitution should be protected, Deputy Secretary General of the six religious parties' alliance, Liaquat Baloch told NNI here on Friday. Talking to this news agency after addressing the workers convention here Baloch said, "Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal has a very clear stand in this connection that is end to the dictatorship and resignation of President General Pervez Musharraf from his one of the dual positions Chief of the Army Staff."
He was of the view that any difference between the opposition parties including Alliance for Restoration of Democracy "could benefit the dictator to continue. The only way to pull the country out of prevailing crises is the elections for the new President of Pakistan according to the Constitution."
He announced that the MMA supreme council is meeting on February 21st before holding its talks with the leadership of the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy.
"In the meeting between the leadership of MMA and ARD on 21st February a written agreement is expected between both the alliances for launching a joint movement against General Musharraf and for restoration of real democracy," he said.
He also demanded the Islamic World to take lesson from the US occupation on Afghanistan and Iraq. "The Ummah should take notice of the American designs against another Islamic country Iran and should be united against any American aggression to any other Muslim country," he said.
He was of the view that like all other religions, believes and systems, the Muslims of the world also have right to live according to their believe " and also have rights to protect their sovereignty and independence."
Asked to offer a comment on the recently concluded agreement between India and Pakistan to open bus service between Muzaffarabad and Srinagar, Baloch who is also Amir Jamaat-i-Islami Punjab said, "having bus service between AJK and occupied Kashmir does not mean solution to the dispute. These are the tactics of the Indian leadership to divert attention from real issues of Jammu and Kashmir and also from the issue of Baglihar Dam."
The indigenous struggle of the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir will not go in waste bin "we will never allow anybody to bulldoze great sacrifices of the people of Kashmir and if India is interested in resolving Kashmir issue the only solution is right to self determination according to the UN Security Council on Kashmir."
Offering a comment over the forthcoming elections of the local governments, Baloch said that the government and its allies are quite upset over the popularity of the opposition parties. He vowed that MMA will sweep in the LGs elections.
He said that President Musharraf is well aware that he is not popular among the people of Pakistan. "It is therefore he is intervening in the forthcoming Local Governments' elections through the official machinery," he said. He vowed to resist if the sitting government tries to hijack the results of the elections. "We will not allow anybody to use influence or rigging the pools," he said.
