Any party which intends to strike a deal with 'de facto' President General Pervez Musharraf, without getting assurances for stopping military interference in governmental affairs, holding of fresh elections in free, fair and impartial manner and restoration of the Constitution in its original shape, would prove disastrous for it. These observations were made by Amir of Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith, Sajid Mir, while addressing a press conference here on Wednesday.
'At present, the country is facing uncertainty because of General Pervez Musharraf who crossed all the limits to please India and America," he said.
Criticising PML (Q), he said that most of the sitting MNAs/MPAs of this party would face humiliating defeat in the next general elections. However, some of them having vote bank would be able to retain their seats, he added. He said that General Musharraf, who is aware of this fact, is trying to strike a deal with any big party like PPPP and PML (N).
Moreover, America, which is closely watching the political scenario in the country, is exerting pressure on Musharraf for reconciliation with major political parties, he said.
He said that Musharraf has committed blunder by launching operation in Wana, which created a sense of alienation among those tribal leaders who were supporting Pakistan. He expressed the hope that true democracy would soon be restored in the country.
He said that his party, despite being part of MMA, had opposed the 17th amendment in the Constitution. About Qazi's intention to reinitiate dialogue with General Musharraf he said it could be the point of view of Jamaat-e-Islami instead of the MMA.
He said that reports regarding corruption of provincial minister and chief minister of Sindh were negation of Musharraf's claims about accountability.
About rejection of Faisal Saleh Hayat's bail by the Supreme Court, he said that induction of person like him in the cabinet "is a joke with the NAB" as well as public.
Appreciating his party for sending relief goods to Sri Lanka for tsunami affectees, he asked the office-bearers to arrange relief goods for rain and flood affectees in Sindh, Balochistan and NWFP areas.
Hafiz Abdul Karim, provincial chief of the party, said that relief goods worth Rs 4.5 million were distributed among the affectees in Sri Lanka through local organisations.
