The Punjab Government is chalking out a new leasing policy for leasing out the state lands to the general public and as such further extension to the lease of 1,15,762 acres of land has not been granted. The government is also taking proactive steps to retrieve state land from the 'Qabza mafia'. Punjab Minister for Colonies, Mian Manazar Ali Ranjha stated this while addressing a briefing session regarding preparation of new leasing policy here on Wednesday.
Member Colonies Tariq Yousaf, officers of Revenue Department and EDO (Revenue/Faisalabad) attended the meeting. The Minister observed that new leasing policy would not only enhance the government' s revenue but also ensure transparency in the procedure.
Mian Manazar Ali Ranjha directed the officers to take effective measures for the recovery of dues from lessee. He said no influence would be tolerated in that regard. Mian Manazar Ali Ranjha said strict policy would be adopted to retrieve precious state land worth billions of rupees from the grabbers. The meeting approved the proposal to set up a Legal Cell in the department headed by Deputy Secretary Legal to save the state lands and resolve legal matters effectively, he added.
