All Pakistan Goods Transport Association (APGTA) has announced to observe three days wheel jam strike from March 25 (Friday) in Punjab ,Sindh and Balochistan as a protest against an increase in prices of petroleum products, toll-tax and road-tax. "We have decided to observe three days wheel jam strike from March 25 in three provinces of the country to press the authorities for acceptance of our demands," said Chaudhry Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman of action committee of supreme council of APGTA here on Friday.
He said, "we have deferred our March 5th strike on the request of the government but government had further increased the prices of petroleum products recently and it wanted to take the prices to an extent". Now we have unanimously decided to observe three days wheel jam strike of trucks and trailers from March 25 which would hit the supply of fresh fruits, vegetables and exportable etc.
Explaining his demands he said that petroleum products prices should not be revised by oil companies advisory committee (OCAC) but it must be revised by Ogra on annual or half yearly basis, toll tax be cut by 50 percent on toll plazas, road tax be withdrawn, truck stands be constructed in each district headquarters, checking of excise and taxation, customs be stopped on the roads, vehicles of 14 feet height be allowed on Motorway, vehicle should be handed over to the driver on "Superdari" and fleecing by traffic police must be stopped.
